A/S Knud Jepsen - Queen® Genetics, is looking for a structured Breeding Manager with experience in plant breeding or plant science

As Breeding Manager for Queen® Genetics you will ensure the effective and efficient operation of the plant breeding function by assisting the R&D Manager with research projects and management of the lab and field activities with the goal of developing commercially successful hybrids.

Key responsibilities
• Develop new and improved plant varieties that meet research requirements and company’s strategies.
• Independently prepare and execute research action plans in collaboration with R&D Manager, including breeding plans and research projects for one or more major and minor genera.
• Evaluate and recommend new and/or improved crop varieties.
• Provide recommendations on breeding direction based on trial performance and local/global market trends to R&D Manager.
• Implement and monitor compliance of company policies on safety, health and the environment.
• Gather and share information on published and un-published breeding. Adapt and implement these technologies for the development of novel hybrids.
• Help to build a strong, functional team.
• Assume responsibility for all phases of parental stock management for assigned breeding programs.

As Breeding Manager, stationing at the branch facilities at Queen® Türkiye will be expected. The duration hereof is 2-3 months at a time, 3 times yearly.


Qualification requirements
To perform this job successfully, candidates must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Türkiye.
• Ph.D. in Plant Breeding/Plant Sciences or similar field or M.Sc. degree with 10 years relevant experience in a breeding capacity.
• Practical experience with traditional plant breeding technologies such as emasculation, hybridization, cross-breeding, backcrossing, phenotypic selection and selection for disease resistance, mutation induction and polyploidy induction – can be in any crop – agriculture/horticulture.
• Experience with seed technology – harvesting, storage, and germination of seeds.
• Understanding the importance of breeding program design and knowledge about and ability to work with plant breeding software programs.
• Proficient in using programming language R and Linux command line for statistical analysis and visualization.
• Strong ability to quantitatively analyze the interaction between genotype and environment.
• Profecient in working with Microsoft programs, Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Well organized, able to communicate effectively and possess attention to detail.
• Ability to inspire colleagues and manage conflict resolution.
• Master english at a professional level.
